Sven Kaster

Sven was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and continued to live in the greatest Midwestern state until being called to the cornfields of Illinois. At UIUC he pursued and obtained a Ph. D. with M. Christina White utilizing Pd-SOX catalyzed allylic C—H functionalization to from carbon-heteroatom bonds. After finishing his Ph.D., Sven decided it was time to pursue research utilizing radically different coupling partners and joined the MacMillan group. Outside of lab, Sven enjoys playing basketball, building Legos, and listening to BTS songs with his wife.
