Yihao Li was born in Tianjin, China. He received his B.Sc. from Nankai University in 2019. He did his Ph.D. studies in Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute in Prof. Jin-Quan Yu’s lab, focusing on developing C(sp3)–H functionalization strategies of weakly coordinating carbonyl compounds, such as ketone, aldehyde and native amide. Following the completion of his Ph.D., Yihao joined the MacMillan Group to expand his expertise in photoredox chemistry. Beyond the lab, Yihao is a skilled fisherman good at rock fishing in the west coast.
Fun Facts
- Yihao found some great spots for hoop netting lobsters while cliff fishing in San Diego.
- Yihao lives with three adorable chinchillas. One of them eats so much, it’s almost too chubby to hold with one hand.
- Although Yihao just started his postdoc in 2025, he is familiar with Princeton—he’s been visiting here very often since 2019.
