Aneesh was born and raised in Cupertino, California. Staying in the Bay Area, he pursued his undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, completing a simultaneous degree in Biology and Chemistry. He got involved in research first in the laboratory of Professor Michael Marletta, where he worked on developing biochemical assays to better understand Polysaccharide Monooxygenase catalysis. Subsequently, he worked in the laboratory of Professor John Hartwig, using a photoexcited iridium-containing artificial metalloenzyme to achieve the enantioselective construction of N-heterocycles. Outside the lab, Aneesh enjoys going on long walks/hikes, trying new sources of caffeine, and attempting the NYT crosswords.

• Aneesh has an identical twin.
• Aneesh was part of a South Asian A Cappella group in undergrad.
• Anything lychee or peach flavored is likely to be enjoyed by Aneesh.
• Though he failed most of the Ishihara tests growing up, he didn’t realize he was colorblind until 9th grade biology when randomly called upon to say what number he saw in the dots.
