Michelle Yu

B.S., Northeastern University, 2026

Michelle grew up in Chandler, Arizona, and she received her B.S. in Biochemistry from Northeastern University. During her time at Northeastern, Michelle joined Dr. Jeffrey Agar’s lab, where she worked on developing data analysis methods for top-down mass spectrometry. She also completed co-op experiences at Takeda Pharmaceuticals as a Protein Analytics and Mass Spec Co-op and at Matterworks as an Analytical Chemistry Co-op, gaining experience in therapeutic antibody characterization and metabolomics, respectively. Outside the lab, Michelle enjoys watching (and re-watching) sitcoms, playing card games with friends, and painting landscapes.

Fun Facts

• Michelle has crocheted a giant miffy plush that is about half her height
• Michelle enjoys collecting trinkets from many franchises, including but not limited to smiski, sanrio, miffy, and sumikko gurashi. When she was moving to Princeton, she needed two big boxes to carry all of them.
• Michelle is a big fan of NileRed, and in high school, she successfully recreated one of his experiments that converted acetylsalicylic acid in aspirin pills into methyl salicylate, aka wintergreen oil.
