Airi is from Hiroshima, Japan. She attended Harvard University, where she received her A.B. and A.M. in Chemistry. During her time there, her research in the lab of Professor Brian Liau focused on developing chemical probes for ribosomal mutational profiling. Outside of the lab, she enjoys exploring cafes and restaurants, and going to Pilates and Barre classes.

Fun Facts

• Airi considers the gibbon her spirit animal, though she has yet to meet one in person. It's at the top of her list of animals to see someday.
• Airi tends to get fixated on one food at a time, especially anything with a chewy texture. Her fixation for the past year has been cheung fun and Swedish candy.
• Scents and perfumes are another love of hers. Her retirement plan is to open a perfume shop with her own lab, traveling the world to orchards and farms to collect ingredients for her own homemade perfumes.
