Alice Long

B. A., Emory University, 2020

Alice Long was born and raised in the heart of Miami, Florida. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Emory University in 2020. During her time at Emory, she served as an undergraduate research assistant under Dr. McDonald on synthesizing mono- and di-substituted alkenyl diols to develop a more efficient way of synthesizing a polycyclic ether core in natural products. Alice was also the treasurer of First-Generation and Low-Income Partnership (FLIP), a program aimed to bridge the gap between various socioeconomic classes and promote educational access. Upon graduation, Alice was a co-op intern at GlaxoSmithKline focusing her efforts on performing small molecule synthesis on-DNA with a diverse set of building blocks for machine learning applications. Outside of the lab, you can find her engaging in race-forward discussions, drawing realism art and spending most of her days with her dog, Rebel.

  • Alice's favorite movie is Devil Wears Prada. She aspires to be Miranda but she turns out to be Emily.
  • Despite never having a dog growing up, Alice rescued her four-legged daughter, Rebel James when she was 2 months old in Atlanta, GA. Rebel eats hand cooked meals every night.
  • Alice loves to draw realistic art such as black and white portraits of people.
