Artem Tsymbal

Artem Tsymbal was born and raised in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. After his seventeenth year he moved north to Lomonosov Moscow State University. During his undergraduate years Artem worked on difluorocarbene chemistry in the group of Prof. Alexander Dilman at Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry. Also, he spent three consecutive summers working in the groups of Prof. Scott E. Denmark (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Prof. Peter R. Schreiner (Justus Liebig Universität Gießen) and Prof. Jérôme Waser (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne). After obtaining his Specialist Degree in chemistry, Artem moved from one the Seven Sisters to the Garden State to join the group of Prof. David W. C. MacMillan. In his spare time Artem enjoys cooking everything he could find in his cookbooks and reading journalistic investigations.

Fun Facts

• Being a typography geek, Artem feels upset when sees unproperly kerned text.
• Excessive center alignment makes him even more upset.
• Artem’s favorite type of journalistic activity is factchecking.
