Dr. Jian Jin

Postdoctoral Scholar, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, 2017

Jian was born and grew up in Zhejiang Province, China. He never left Zhejiang until he got a B.S. degree (2003, advisor: Prof. Wei-Min Dai) and a Ph. D. degree (2008, advisor: Prof. Wei-Min Dai) from Zhejiang University. Then he flew east across the Pacific Ocean and landed on the La Jolla golf course. However, he didn’t belong to the course but the fume hood next door in Prof. KC Nicolaou’s Lab at The Scripps Research Institute, where he worked on total synthesis of Maitotoxin. Continuing east, Jian joined the MacMillan lab at Princeton University in July of 2012 as a postdoctoral research associate to work on alkylation of heteroarenes via photoredox catalysis. In June of 2016, he was promoted to associate research scholar. In his spare time, Jian enjoys family time with his wife and two daughters.
