B.Sc., Nipissing University, 2019
Ryoga was born in Tokushima, Japan, and moved to Northern Ontario, Canada, during elementary school. He received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Prof. Zachary M. Hudson, where his research focused on organic materials, particularly thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) luminophores and their applications in organic photocatalysis, bioimaging, and nanoparticle modification. During his Ph.D., he also collaborated with BMS and completed a research exchange in Germany with Prof. Frank Glorius, working on energy-transfer-based photocatalysis. In 2026, Ryoga joined the MacMillan Group as a postdoc, supported by an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship. Outside the lab, he enjoys cooking, spending time with friends, and watching movies.
