Min Sun (Esther) Kang

Esther was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and went to London, England at the age of 16 due to her father’s post. She completed her high school education in London and then pursued a Chemistry major at Imperial College London. After her undergraduate studies, she worked as an investor relations representative at SillaJen, a biopharmaceutical company in Korea specializing in oncolytic virotherapy. Esther then joined Professor Teck-Peng Loh’s group at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore as a post-bacc researcher. There, she developed structural analogues of FDA-approved antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) using innovative cysteine-selective conjugation linkers. In July 2023, Esther joined the MacMillan Group at Princeton University to pursue her PhD in Chemical Biology. Outside of the lab, Esther enjoys taking a walk in the woods, watching movies, and spending time with her friends and family.
Fun Facts
- She has lived in four different countries, including the USA, yet she is fluent in only two languages: Korean and English.
- Before pursuing research, she used to work in finance.
- Despite spending seven years in London, she still finds it challenging to adjust to the fogs and cold weather.
