Jackie Gu

B.S., Yale University, 2025

Jackie was born and raised in the greater Boston area. She attended Yale University where she studied chemistry and learned how to do research. She joined the Newhouse group where she contributed to a total synthesis of a liminoid natural product and a novel Ni-catalyzed sulfone functionalization methodology project. She jumped over to the world of methodology development for good in summer 2024 when she interned at BMS in Cambridge, MA. There, she completed the scope of a Buchwald-Hartwig cross coupling reaction and began optimization of a Ni-catalyzed electrochemical cross coupling methodology. Outside of the lab, she enjoys traveling, biking, hiking, and drinking lattes (iced unless she’s in Europe).

Fun Facts
  • Her love for traveling was catalyzed by her semester abroad in Taiwan; since then, she’s been to over 10 countries, but Taiwan is still her favorite.
  • She can’t swim that well but loves all manner of water sports including surfing, cliff jumping, and snorkeling. Wake surfing is next on her bucket list.
  • A true Bostonian, Dunkin’ is her go-to airport or train station meal and she will happily arrive extra early to ensure time to get a sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel.
