Jennifer Nguyen
B.A., Barnard College, 2023
Jennifer was born in Saigon, Vietnam but was raised in New York. She attended Barnard College for her undergraduate studies, where she graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry. During this time, she conducted research in the lab of Tomislav Rovis at Columbia University, working to develop an electrocatalytic method of controlling olefin metathesis. Eager to explore the world of photoredox catalysis, she joined the MacMillan Lab in August 2023. Outside of the lab, Jennifer enjoys exploring new restaurants, reading, and sleeping.
Fun Facts
- When she was a toddler, Jennifer was so terrified of Chia Pet commercials that she would cry whenever they were shown on TV.
- Bored at home during the pandemic, Jennifer decided to propagate a pineapple plant from a store-bought fruit. It took three years until she could harvest her first home-grown pineapple.
- Jennifer loves the smell of dill pickles but hates the way they taste.
