Olivia Garry

Ph.D., Merck, South San Francisco, CA, 2023

Olivia was born in London, England before moving to Sussex, England. She attended the University of Oxford where she worked in Professor Ed Anderson’s group on ynamide and yndiamide chemistry. In the summer before her final year, she also worked in Professor Scott Denmark’s group at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on enantioselective -dichlorinations. Outside of the lab, Olivia enjoys reading, travelling and going to the pub with friends.

Fun Facts

• Olivia can play the bassoon, piano and violin (to varying degrees of success)
• Olivia has randomly met many British celebrities, including Hugh Grant, Sir Ian McKellen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne and Prince Charles
• Olivia has an Alaskan Klee Kai back home who she misses a lot
