Theodore (Teddy) Press

B.A., Dartmouth College, 2023

Theodore (Teddy) was born and raised in North Caldwell, New Jersey. He attended Dartmouth College, where he graduated with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry (with Honors) and Art History. During his undergraduate career, Teddy worked in Wilcox Lab, where he performed thermodynamic experiments on metalloproteins; his thesis focused on the thermodynamics of zinc and copper binding to Superoxide Dismutase 1 (SOD1), a protein implicated in familial Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In a fall internship, Teddy worked for Dr. James F. Markmann at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where he studied the role of regulatory B cells and regulatory T cells in developing organ transplant tolerance. In 2023, Teddy returned to his home state of New Jersey, where he joined the MacMillan Lab. In his free time, Teddy enjoys cooking and baking, hiking, reading, and skiing.

Fun Facts
  • Teddy's signature dish is crispy chicken thighs and mushroom risotto. He also bakes a mean apple pie with a homemade pate brisee pie dough.
  • Teddy has held a slate of various jobs, including architectural drafting intern, yacht club waiter, bakery counterboy, children's sewing camp instructor, and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection civil engineering intern (though he would argue that he was more of a lawyer than an engineer).
  • Teddy holds the high score for "Yellow" by Coldplay on expert mode on the Guitar Hero machine at the Dave and Buster's in Willowbrook Mall.
