Theo Curtis

B.S., Yale University, 2025

Theo was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended Yale University and joined the lab of Timothy Newhouse initially as a premed, but fell in love with organic chemistry soon after. In undergrad, he worked on the total synthesis of Gibberellin natural product, a computational approach to predicting azobenzene photoswitch properties, and the development of an unusual nickel-catalyzed Heck reaction. In his junior summer, he interned at Bristol-Myers-Squibb in Princeton and worked on automated thioamide synthesis. Outside of the lab, Theo enjoys staying fit through triathlon training, playing racquet sports, traveling, and Yoga.

Fun Facts

• Theo used to competitively solve Rubik's cubes. He no longer has the same speed but still solves them to destress.
• Theo had only lived in New Haven until he was 21 and then moved to Princeton (for the first time!)
• Theo was named after President Theodore Roosevelt and he wrote his college admissions essay about the connection.
