William Lyon

Will was born and raised in Lake Forest, IL, a suburb of Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he first studied the metabolic engineering of non-model yeasts with Professor Huimin Zhao. After developing an interest in organic chemistry, he shifted over to the lab of Professor M. Christina White, where he worked on palladium-catalyzed C-H activation chemistry. Outside of lab, Will enjoys a variety of activities such as hiking, volleyball, spikeball, and cooking.

Fun Facts

• Even though he is pursuing a doctoral degree in chemistry, Will's bachelor's degree is in chemical engineering.
• Despite being born and raised in Illinois, Will is a fan of the Florida Panthers, an NHL team located in South Florida
• Will is an avid golfer who played competitively through high school, and was a founding member of an intramural golf club in college.
